EFSA reviews study protocols for agchems/bees

The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has completed peer reviews of study protocols submitted by four companies to look at the effects of the insecticides, clothianidin, fipronil, imidacloprid and thiamethoxam, on bees. The protocols have been submitted by Bayer CropScience for clothianidin and imidacloprid, Sumitomo Chemical for clothianidin, BASF for fipronil, and Syngenta for thiamethoxam. Comments from EU member states and the EFSA are to be considered by the applicants in the upcoming post-approval procedure for the active ingredients.
