Ghana builds agbiotech and agchem lab
An agricultural biotechnology research laboratory is to be erected over the next ten months in Ghana, national media report. The World Bank-financed project will be for the use of the crops research institute of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research in Fumesua near Kumasi. The project has the support of the West Africa Agricultural Productivity (WAAP) programme, and the West Africa Council for Agricultural Research and Development. WAAP national co-ordinator Azarah Ali Manshie says the laboratory will be for the use of pesticide and genetic material technology registrations, and will be the country’s centre for biotechnology.
