Chinese Q1 imports up 17% on lower volumes
China's pesticide imports fell 4.1% in volume terms to 16,000 tonnes, but increased 17.3% in value terms to $150 million in the first quarter of 2011. The average import price over the threemonths was $9,147/tonne. The data were published by the Chinese Customs Department through the national newspaper, the AgriGoods Herald. China's 2010 pesticide imports increased in both volume and value terms, rising by 15.2% to 45,000 tonnes, at a value of $444 million (+23.2% - Agrow No 613, pp 18-19).
