Brazil inpEV celebrates successful decade
The Brazilian pesticide container disposal organisation, the inpEV, has celebrated its tenth anniversary, national newswire Agrolink reports. It has run the industry’s collection, disposal and recycling of pesticide containers since legislation was passed on the issue in 2000, followed by a decree two years later. The organisation founded the Campo Limpo to Reciclagem e Transformação de Plásticos to produce plastic containers from recycled resin. It has overseen a system that has so far collected just over 200,000 tonnes of containers. The inpEV is on course for another record year, with collections reaching 32,167 tonnes by the end of November, some 9.7% higher than last year. It collected less than 4,000 tonnes in its full year of operation in 2002. The inpEV has 87 company associates as well as ten other entities, and claims to be the world leader in used pesticide container disposal.
