EU GMO cultivation proposals dead?
It is “not possible” to achieve an agreement on proposals to allow national bans on the cultivation of EU-approved genetically modified crops, concludes the Danish EU Presidency. It is understood that the proposals are not currently on the work programme of the Cypriot government, which takes over the rotating six-month EU Presidency in July, says Danish Environment Minister Ida Auken. Her comments, made after the June meeting of EU Environment Ministers, raise a question over the future of the proposals. EU member states have been arguing over them since 2010.
