Syngenta to buy Pasteuria Bioscience
Syngenta has agreed to acquire the US biopesticide company, Pasteuria Bioscience (Alachua, Florida), for $86 million, with additional deferred payments of up to $27 million. The deal is expected to be completed this year. Pasteuria specialises in the development of bionematicides based on the bacterium, Pasteuria spp. The company introduced its first product, Econem ( P usgae), for the control of sting nematodes ( Belonolaimus longicaudatus) in US turf in 2010 ( Agrow No 593, p 4).
