Bayer CropScience to end methyl isocyanate use at Institute, W.Va. plant

Bayer CropScience announced Jan. 11 that it will stop the production, storage and use of methyl isocyanate (MIC) at its Institute, W.Va. plant, in part because of its agreement with EPA to phase out aldicarb, which the agency determined may pose unacceptable dietary risks. The move will eliminate 220 jobs at the plant, The Charleston Gazette reports.
