Kudzu bugs may pose threat to US soy

Results from a study by researchers from the US North Carolina State University (Raleigh) have shown that the invasive pest, the bean plataspidor kudzu bug ( Megacopta cribraria) may pose a threat to soybean plantings across the US. It had previously been thought that the pest’s expansion would be limited by the presence of its preferred host, kudzu vine ( Pueraria lobata), which is itself an invasive species in the US. The kudzu vine’s range is limited to the south-eastern US by cold temperatures.
