Nissan Chemical’s agchem sales edge ahead

Nissan Chemical’s agrochemical sales amounted to ¥34,408 million ($429 million at the current rate) for the year to March 31st 2011, up 1.9 % on the previous year. The company, which acquired Monsanto’s Japanese herbicide business in 2002, suffered from a 12 % drop in sales of Roundup (glyphosate). However, that was offset by a 7% increase in sales of other pesticides. Operating income of the company’s agrochemical business was up 3.4% to ¥4,822 million ($60 million). There was no material damage to Nissan’s facilities from the March earthquake, the company says.
