Sumitomo has good first quarter overseas
Sumitomo Chemical recorded "solid demand" and increased sales for its agrochemicals in overseas markets in the first quarter ended June 30th 2008. Sales of the company's insecticide-impregnated Olyset mosquito nets also grew. The performance contributed to a 15% increase in sales to ¥54,233 million ($509 million) for the company's agricultural chemicals division, which includes feed additives. Interim pesticide sales are not available, but they account for around 71% of divisional sales ( Agrow No 546, p 4). First-quarter operating profit for the division rose by 7.2% to ¥5,794 million ($54 million).
