GM sugar beet trials completed in Germany

German seed company KWS Saat (Einbeck) has “successfully conducted” trials on genetically modified sugarbeet tolerant to the herbicide, glyphosate, and carried out the harvest. The sugarbeet has been tested for various factors and subjected to an extensive measurement programme at six locations across Germany, in some cases under heavy protests from opponents of genetic engineering, the company says.
