Monsanto brands seed treatment products
Monsanto has adopted the Acceleron brand for its range of seed treatments for genetically modified maize, soybean and cotton crops. The company has entered into agreements with the US firms, Becker Underwood and Plant Health Care, to develop seed treatments for the crops ( Agrow No 538, p 1). Monsanto also has seed treatment deals with Bayer CropScience and BASF ( Agrow No 547, p 1). The first Acceleron seed treatment will be introduced with Monsanto’s second-generation glyphosate-tolerant Roundup Ready 2 Yield soybeans in 2009. It will comprise four components: the fungicides, pyraclostrobin and metalaxyl, a colourant and a polymer, Monsanto points out.
