Fungicides reassessed in Canada
The Canadian Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) proposes that the fungicides, carboxin and oxycarboxin, are eligible for continued registration. The reassessment was based on reviews conducted by the US EPA in 2004 ( Agrow No 468, p 14). Carboxin is used as a seed treatment on a range of crops, while oxycarboxin is approved for use on protected ornamentals. The PMRA requires additional personal protective equipment to reduce occupational risks from carboxin and warnings on labels to address ecological risks. No risk mitigation is required for oxycarboxin. The proposed reassessment decision is subject to a 45-day comment period from November 12th.
