Limin's agchem plants pass green test

Chinese agrochemical company Limin Chemical’s newly constructed 5,000 tonnes/year propineb fungicide plant and 5,000 tonnes/year metam-sodium soil fumigant plant have passed an environmental inspection by the Jiangsu Ministry of Environmental Protection. The manufacture of propineb produces wastewater containing high levels of ammonia, nitrogen and zinc, Limin Chemical points out. The company has invested Yuan 4.8 million ($703,000 at current rate) in its propineb plant’s environmental protection project, and the industrial wastewater produced conforms to national safety standards, the Chinese government’s chemical industry newswire, Cheminfo, reports. New regulations in China restrict the location of planned agrochemical facilities away from urban areas and water sources, and plants are required to have adequate waste treatment and disposal systems ( Agrow No 493, p 17).
