Jiangsu Yangnong sets pyrethrin standard
Chinese agrochemical company, Jiangsu Yangnong Chemical (Yangzhou), has won the Chinese pesticide industry standard for production of the insecticide, pyrethrin, reports the Yangzhou municipal government. The status was awarded by the Working Group 1 (pyrethroids) of the National Technical Committee on Pesticides of the Standardisation Administration of China. Jiangsu Yangnong Chemical is one of China’s top three pesticide exporters, selling to over 20 countries, and claims to be the world’s largest manufacturer of pyrethrin. The phase-out of toxic organophospate pesticides in China, for which pyrethroids are seen as potential replacements, has given Jiangsu Yangnong Chemical the opportunity to broaden its pyrethroid product range and increase sales of the insecticide ( Agrow No 508, p 6).
