Bayer extends agchem language "miner" deal
Bayer CropScience has agreed to continue its use of UK company Linguamatics’ interactive information extraction system, 12E, to “identify trends and activities in the crop protection sector”. Bayer has used 12E to analyse patents and scientific literature since mid-2007. The system’s “natural language querying and ability to exploit agro-related words” eases analysis of large documents and full-text sources. Linguamatics chief operating officer Roger Hale welcomes the agreement. “12E offers powerful and flexible text mining that is easily optimised to provide up-to-date, relevant and high quality answers for a particular domain, such as agrochemicals." No financial details of the deal have been disclosed.
