Canada: Ontario to introduce toxics right-to-know law

Ontario Environment Minister John Gerretson (Liberal) plans to introduce legislation during the fall parliamentary session that starts this week that will require industries to disclose to the public what toxic chemicals are used and/or stored on their premises. Ontario Liberals promised to enact an extensive toxic reduction law, including right-to-know rules, during their re-election campaign last year. "People have the right to know what's being manufactured in their communities, next to places where they live," Gerretson said.
