Decline in French feed production in 2009

The French feed industry reported a fall of 5.9% in animal feed production in 2009. The worst affected sector was cattle feed, with a decrease of 10.2%, followed by pig feed, reporting a 6.8% reduction. Production of poultry feeds suffered less in comparison, falling by 2.9%. The last quarter of 2009 saw a slower rate of decline, with overall feed production falling by 2.8%. The exceptions were milk replacers and rabbit feeds, which continued to drop significantly. The figures were released by the Syndicate of the French Animal Feed Industry and Coop de France.
