Two new generic analgesics from UK group

The Animalcare Group, a UK manufacturer and distributor of veterinary medicines and equipment, has added two generic pain relief products to its portfolio. This follows the necessary approvals from the Veterinary Medicines Directorate in the UK and the Irish Medicines Board. Sedastart (medetomidine hydrochloride) is an injectable sedative solution for dogs and cats. The company says that it is used prior to a general anesthetic, or before minor procedures such as stitching, radiography and nail clipping to calm the animal. Sedastop (atipamezole hydrochloride) is also an injectable solution and is administered after a procedure or operation to reverse the sedative effects of Sedastart and revive the patient more quickly. The two products can be used either as standalone products or together.
