Ciba promotes fly control programme worldwide:
Ciba is promoting a two-stage fly control method for all areas of intensive animal production. The Ciba Fly Control Programme prevents fly larvae from developing into pupae, so fewer adult flies emerge. This overcomes the problem of adult flies' ability to become resistant to some insecticides. In the first stage of the programme, Neporex (cyromazine), Ciba's insect growth regulator, inhibits larval growth. Since cyromazine is from a chemical group not linked to any fly control product currently on the market, it helps prevent the development of flies which have become resistant to other chemicals. In the second stage, Ciba's products Alfacron and Snip (both azamethiphos) control adult flies, thus breaking the fly's life cycle at two points. All three products are already available worldwide. The fly control programme can be used in poultry units, pig fattening and breeding units, sheep and goat sheds, horse stables, intensive rabbit units and fur farms.
