UK moves towards compulsory microchips for dogs
Andrew Rosindell, a member of the United Kingdom Parliament, has launched an Early Day Motion (EDM) calling for the compulsory microchipping of dogs. He claims the policy would have a significant and positive welfare impact on dogs. It would assist in the return of stray and stolen dogs to their owners, improve the traceability of puppy-farmed dogs and provide a life time of security for a one-off payment. Mr Rosindell claims that more MPs have been showing support for the measure as the EDM is gaining signatures from across all political parties.
