Reducing bone breakage in laying hens

Adding the right combination of fatty acids to the diets of laying hens can reduce bone breakage, according to research at the University of Bristol, England. Feeding a diet supplemented in this way would help to maintain food production while improving standards of animal welfare in poultry production, say the researchers. The findings were presented at the British Society of Animal Science (BSAS) annual conference at the University of Nottingham on April 5th.
