EU report says resistance common in zoonotic bacteria

Two EU agencies have published the first joint report on levels of antimicrobial resistance in zoonotic bacteria. The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) and the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) found that resistance to antibiotics was common in isolates from humans, animals and food, and noted that the high proportion of ciprofloxacin resistant Salmonella, Campylobacter and Escherichia coli was a particular concern.
