China’s ractopamine ban backed by Elanco

Elanco, the animal health division of Eli Lilly & Co, says it supports China’s recent move to ban exports of livestock growth promoting feed additives that contain ractopamine. The decision has been welcomed by Elanco which manufactures and markets ractopamine as Paylean for swine and ractopamine hydrochloride under the Optaflexx brand for cattle. It says that the decision both protects its trademarks and will help remove unlicensed and potentially unsafe versions from the market.
