Bluetongue outbreaks in Palestine

Three bluetongue outbreaks have been reported in Palestine, all of them in the region of Hebron, in the West Bank. On three cattle farms, 61 animals were found to be infected, but none of them was slaughtered. According to the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE), the outbreaks were discovered when “seven farmers complained of abortion, salivation, fetlock swelling, nasal discharge and a decrease in milk production in their dairy herds.” However, some of the infected herds had no clinical signs of disease.
