Foot and mouth outbreak in two Viet Nam provinces

Outbreaks of foot and mouth disease (FMD) have been reported in two provinces of Viet Nam. The Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development confirmed that four cows died of the disease in the Central Highlands province of Kon Tum, while in the southern province of Long An, more than 70 animals were infected with FMD virus type A. Kon Tum Province’s Animal Health Department said the disease recurred due to the cows being transported from Long An to the highland province. At least 111 animals were taken to the province.
