PPR spreads to Morocco and threatens Europe

Several cases of Peste des Petits Ruminants (PPR) have recently been reported in Morocco, and the disease may spread to Europe, says the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE). PPR is a highly infectious disease affecting sheep and goats, and since it was first reported in the Ivory Coast in 1942, has become endemic in West Africa. It then spread eastward, reaching Kenya, Uganda and Asian countries such as India and Pakistan.
