Report calls for US ban on routine use of antimicrobials in feed

A report from the Pew Commission on Industrial Farm Animal Production (PCIFAP) says that the routine use of antimicrobials in animal feed should be banned to prevent the spread of antibiotic resistant bacteria. The 111-page report, entitled Putting Meat on the Table: Industrial Farm Animal Production in America, found high levels of risk to public health and the environment from current US animal food production systems, as well as unnecessary harm to food animals.
