French vets to help fight global animal diseases

French veterinarians are to help control global transboundary and other animal diseases. The United Nations' Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has signed a three-year agreement with France Veterinaire International (FVI), under which French vets will undertake short-term missions for the FAO. The FAO will train the vets on its methodologies and procedures. The partnership will be jointly funded by the FAO and the FVI. The latter was set up to coordinate veterinary training and technical cooperation on animal health issues. sita.shah@informa.com
