Colombia to invest Peso 100bn in cattle sector:
Colombia is to invest Peso 100bn (US$47m) in new projects that will help develop new technologies and innovative methods for the cattle sector. The projects will be conducted by universities and research institutions, and will last for four years. The government said it would give a higher priority to projects that focused on developing productivity and improving the competitiveness of Colombia's agricultural sector, as well as those co-financed by the research institutions. Agricultural minister Andres Felipe Arias noted that this was the first time that the ministry had spent this sum of money on technological programs in just one year. The government is calling for proposals until the beginning of March.
