New generic antiparasitics available in Japan:

Three new generic versions of Merial's blockbuster heartworm and intestinal worm product Heartgard Plus (ivermectin + pyrantel) for dogs are now available in Japan, after they were introduced at the Japan Veterinary Medical Association's annual meeting last month. These products are Meiji Seika's Panamectin Chewable P, Fujita/Dainippon Sumitomo's Ivermec PI and Novartis' TriHeart Chewable tablets. Elsewhere, Bayer Medical Japan has launched Profender Spot-on (emodepside + praziquantel) for the control of roundworms, hookworms and tape worms in cats. Kawasaki Mitaka Pharmaceutical has introduced Dalmazin (d-cloprostenol) to synchronize the menstrual cycle and to treat ovarian diseases due to the delay of luteolysis in cattle, and for inducing farrowing in pigs. This product is manufactured by Fatro in Italy.
