Jamaica allocates J$15m to animal health:

Jamaica has allocated J$15m ($225,564) to animal health for 2007/08 through the veterinary services division within the ministry of agriculture, says the government's information service, JIS. The Estimates of Expenditure are now before the House of Representatives. Of this, J$5.5m will be for renting property, machinery and equipment; J$5m for compensating employees; J$2.47m for buying goods and services and J$2m for buying equipment. Elsewhere, a project to help vulnerable farmers, the Special Incentives for Small Farmers, will receive J$63.4m for providing resources such as feed and day-old chickens, as well as plant protection chemicals, spraying equipment, seedlings and fertilizers.
