Cypriots safeguard medicines availability

As a small market, the Republic of Cyprus tries to ensure the availability of a wide range of veterinary medicines in the country, says Cyprus' chief veterinary officer and head of animal health and welfare Dr Giorgos Neophytou. He talks to Animal Pharm about the importance of having a variety of veterinary medicines, not only as a means of protecting animal health, but to also help prevent monopolies, where only one medicine is available for a given disease. Dr Neophytou explains how his agency applies various marketing authorization (MA) procedures to encourage veterinary drug manufacturers to launch products on to the Cypriot market.
