Meiji Seika launches feline wormer

Tokyo-based Meiji Seika has launched Monaliet, a feline wormer for the control of hookworms, roundworms and tapeworms. The product contains emodepside and praziquantel, the same active ingredients found in Bayer Animal Health's Profender. Bayer originally licensed emodepside from Meiji Seika, and its product is also available in Japan. However, since the market for that indication is relatively small in Japan, Bayer said it saw no problem in Meiji registering its own product for the domestic market.
