EFSA (European Food Safety Authority) opinion on BSE infectivity

The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has published an opinion on the likelihood of BSE infectivity in specified risk materials (SRM) from cattle at different ages. The opinion confirmed an earlier statement by EFSA that BSE infectivity in the central nervous system of cattle becomes detectable during the last quarter of the incubation period, and that infectivity would be either not present or not detectable up to 33 months of age.
