Malaysia to lift fish export ban

Malaysia's health ministry has assured the seafood industry that it will resume exports of frozen seafood to the EU in March. Exports were voluntarily stopped in July 2008 after EU inspectors found unsatisfactory conditions on aquaculture farms, seafood processing facilities, fishing vessels and fish landing areas. Minister Datuk Liow Tong Lai said that a new EU inspection would take place from March 2nd to 13th, after which exports could be resumed.
