Thai agribusiness expands in Russia
Charoen Pokphand Foods, part of the Thai Charoen Pokphand conglomerate, has opened an animal feed mill in Moscow, Russia. The facility will produce feeds for pigs, poultry and cattle, with an annual capacity of 240,000 tons. The company is also constructing two pig farms near the Russian capital, which will hold around one million animals in total. Russia is a net importer of pig meat, says Charoen Pokphand, with annual consumption estimated at 2.75 million tons, but a domestic supply of only 2 million tons at present.
