European Commission proposals to expand EU biocide uses for two existing active ingredients were voted through by the EU Standing Committee on Biocidal Products in September, Agrow reports. Etofenprox, which was approved for use in wood preservatives in 2008, would also be registered for insecticide use. The EU approval for aluminum phosphide would be extended for the control of other vertebrates through the release of phosphine. The active ingredient was registered for use in rodenticides in 2009 and insecticides in 2010.
