Manufacturing Manager - APAC

Our client, a leading global organisation in the production, marketing and sales of Animal Health products is looking for an experienced Manufacturing Manager to join their APAC team. With an overall responsibility for product compliance within the Asia Pacific network, you will be responsible for developing, improving and managing the systems and processes to allow concise communication and collaboration with external manufacturers, staff and management.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Actively participating in strategy meetings to prepare adequately forecasts

  • Providing technical leadership and support to the manufacturing team, ensuring they share best practice operatives and have adequate technical training and development to further enhance their skills and abilities

  • Ensuring staff are challenged, with the responsibility of engaging external technical mentors to offer a point of difference on processes, development and governance

  • Being responsible for task allocation and communicating expectations of quality to the manufacturing team and various business units within the organisation

  • Ensuring the manufacturing team are actively involved in improving compliance for GMP

  • Participating in succession planning and performance development processes, as well as ensuring the manufacturing team have the appropriate tools and skills to carry out their roles

  • Responsibility for the productivity agenda, improving work practices, quality and reducing costs using collected data to drive business decisions

  • Ensuring sound governance processes are in place as per Global Contract Manufacturing Standards

  • Supporting and resourcing due diligence trips, generating reports and submitting recommendations based on information collected and analysed

  • Providing technical assessment and integration for contract manufacturers on approved projects

  • Representing the manufacturing team at contract manufacturers meetings, internal audits and external regulatory audits

  • Ensuring a program of governance is in place which includes the following principles:

        - Manufacturing Standards of Operations Excellence

        - Validation Lead Team

        - Metrics Reviews

        - Manufacturability Reviews

        - Compliance documentation

Representing our client throughout the various sites in the Asia Pacific region, you will possess strong business acumen and have the ability to engage all levels of business. Excellent technical and business communication skills are essential for this role, both written and oral - with candidates who are fluent in an Asian language as well as English highly regarded.

Our client is looking for candidates with Australian based experience and would welcome applications from individuals looking to return home to Australia. Please note that no sponsorship visas will be provided so candidates must have the right to work in Australia already. The role will ideally be located in Sydney, however if any applicants meeting all of the criteria listed are currently working within the Asia Pacific region, their applications may be considered.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelors degree in relevant Science degree – Chemical/Biochemical, Chemistry or Pharmaceutical Science

  • 15 years experience – preferably in Engineering (Chemical/Biochemical) with relevant pharmaceutical work experience

  • Strong leadership skills with an ability to develop and mentor across functional teams

  • Experience in contract manufacturing organisation

  • Ability to set and implement strategy at a regional level

  • Experience in leading large scale projects with significant complexity

  • Understanding of formulations and the interaction of excipients within these formulations

  • Previous experience across a broad range of product technologies – liquids/tablets/injectables

  • Can respond to changing priorities

  • Strong technical writing skills

  • Ability to travel to Asia Pacific region, US and Europe – approx. 30%
